My thoughts on Dragon Quest

Dragon Quest V

When did Dragon Quest V:  Hand of the Heavenly Bride come out?  I must have missed this announcement somewhere between Feb. till now.  As for my comments concerning this game…

OMG!  OMG!  OMG!  ANOTHER DRAGON QUEST GAME FOR THE DS!  WOOOOOO!

I am a sucker for Dragon Quest games.  Last semester, I played Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, and I absolutely hated it.  Yet, as I progressed through the inexistent storyline, I’ve come to the conclusion that I strangely enjoyed it.  It could have been for the character design.  It could have been for the music.  “In a Town” can be quite enjoyable after listening to it 300-ish times.

Oh how this song has come to haunt me.

It could have even been for the “intense” plot twist at the very end which concerned a character only mentioned once throughout the game.  Who knows, maybe I secretly enjoyed checking out Torneko’s plump body.  Who could not love Torneko?  He could open treasure chests!  Isn’t that awesome?  Not only could he open magical inexistent treasure chest in battle, he has created several spin off games such as Torneko:  The Last Hope and Torneko’s Great Adventure.  What is there not to love about Torneko?  He is a successful traveler, has a wife and a kid, and has the cutest packed lunch ever (made by his wife, of course).

Yeah!
I want his body.

Whatever it was, I admit, as much as I detested playing Dragon Quest IV, I have come to adore Dragon Quest IV as well.  I have even come to love the orchestra version of “In a Town.”  I’m pretty sure much of my conflicted love for this game is solely based on the cute slimes as enemies and the “horny devil”.

Now that Dragon Quest V is out, I am tempted to play it.  Abet, I never did finish the bonus “Chapter 6” in Dragon Quest IV, I have heard many reviews concerning Dragon Quest V.  I’ve heard Dragon Quest V is ultimately one of the best Dragon Quest games out there.  Hmmmm, who knows?  I’ll probably check this game out.  Hopefully, the final boss will be as cool as Psaro the Manslayer.  Man, if only all Dragon Quest games could have Psaro the Manslayer, life would definitely be awesome.
